Job summary

Verkada is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the internal access management architecture, define the technical strategy, and build the infrastructure to provision, review, and audit access across the company.

Your leadership will evolve our in-house access platform, set guardrails for AI-driven workflows, and partner with teams to implement secure, scalable access controls that meet compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of backend or security platform engineering experience.
• Experience designing and building access management platforms.
• Strong understanding of identity primitives and least-privilege access.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, or SCIM.
• Experience with RBAC/ABAC models.
• Automation experience replacing manual workflows, including AI/LLM tooling.
• Experience operating high-availability cloud-native infra (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of Verkada's internal access management platform.
• Build backend infrastructure for provisioning and review.
• Extend integrations with identity providers like Okta.
• Develop automation for access review and AI-assisted risk scoring.
• Create developer tools to request, approve, audit access.
• Ensure access controls meet compliance requirements.
• Operate in a high-growth startup environment.
