NAIS CORP is seeking an experienced AU Senior Bookkeeper to support Australian clients with day-to-day and end-to-end bookkeeping. You will maintain accurate financial records, perform reconciliations, and handle accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and BAS lodgements.
The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in bookkeeping, works well independently, and communicates effectively with clients and stakeholders. Experience with Australian tax compliance and cloud accounting tools is essential.
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented AU Senior Bookkeeper to join our team and support Australian clients with their day-to-day and end-to-end bookkeeping requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, managing accounts payable and receivable, supporting payroll, and assisting with Australian tax and compliance requirements. This role requires strong knowledge of Australian bookkeeping practices and proficiency in accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Dext.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while communicating effectively with clients and other stakeholders.
Manage the client's end-to-end bookkeeping requirements.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations.
Prepare and assist with the lodgement of BAS.
Manage GST and PAYG withholding requirements.
Process payroll in accordance with Australian Fair Work and ATO requirements.
Maintain employee records, including superannuation and leave entitlements.
Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting.
Manage petty cash and company credit card transactions.
Prepare financial reports, schedules, and other ad hoc reports as required.
Review financial transactions and identify discrepancies or irregularities.
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and other financial professionals when required.
Ensure bookkeeping activities comply with relevant Australian accounting and taxation requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure the security of sensitive financial and employee information.
Assist in improving bookkeeping processes, systems, and reporting procedures.
Provide support and guidance to junior bookkeepers or team members when required.
Take responsibility for assigned tasks and ensure deadlines and client requirements are consistently met.
3–5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a similar role.
Proven experience working with Australian businesses or clients.
Strong understanding of Australian bookkeeping and accounting practices.
Good knowledge of GST, BAS, PAYG, payroll, superannuation, and leave entitlements.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and Dext.
Strong bank, credit card, and account reconciliation skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information professionally.
Registered BAS Agent or currently working towards BAS Agent registration.
Experience working with Australian SMEs or small business clients.
Experience handling bookkeeping for multiple clients or entities.
Previous experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or team-lead capacity.
Familiarity with cloud-based accounting platforms, financial tools, and software integrations.
Experience working with Australian payroll systems and compliance requirements.
