Senior Bookkeeper

Employment type: Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours per week

Location: Philippines

Company: Digitek Outsourcing

ABOUT DIGITEK OUTSOURCING

Digitek Outsourcing supports businesses with reliable, high-quality outsourced professional services. We are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper who can take ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping activities, maintain accurate financial records, and confidently manage Australian bookkeeping and compliance-related requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper seeking an initially part-time role with the potential to increase to full-time hours for the right candidate.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will support the day-to-day bookkeeping requirements of a portfolio of Australian clients across a range of industries.

A significant part of the role involves categorising transactions, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, reviewing GST treatment, maintaining accurate financial records and preparing information for BAS and IAS. You will also assist with Australian payroll processing and reconciliations.

You will have strong practical experience with Australian bookkeeping requirements and be confident working across multiple client files. You will investigate discrepancies, resolve reconciliation issues and recognise when further information or supporting documentation is needed before processing a transaction.

You will be organised, accurate and comfortable working independently while knowing when to raise a query or elevate an issue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities across multiple Australian client files and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Categorise and allocate income and expenses using the appropriate account and Australian GST treatment.
  • Process high volumes of transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete bank, credit card and general ledger reconciliations, including investigating unmatched or unreconciled transactions.
  • Match customer and supplier payments to invoices and bills; process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare and review information required for Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
  • Review GST coding and identify incorrect, unusual or uncertain GST treatment.
  • Prepare clear queries for transactions requiring further information or supporting documentation rather than making assumptions.
  • Assist with Australian payroll processing, including regular and unscheduled pay runs where required.
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations covering wages, PAYG withholding, superannuation, leave, allowances and deductions.
  • Assist with month-end bookkeeping and reporting processes; maintain supporting documentation and organised records.
  • Liaise with internal team members, accountants and external advisers as required.
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies and opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes.
  • Support general financial administration and ad hoc bookkeeping requirements, completing work accurately within agreed deadlines.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Bookkeeper, Bookkeeper or similar accounting support role.
  • Strong practical experience with Australian bookkeeping requirements.
  • Proven experience preparing and/or supporting BAS and IAS processes.
  • Experience calculating and reconciling Fuel Tax Credits.
  • Strong bank, credit card and general ledger reconciliation skills.
  • Solid understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Good understanding of GST treatment and transaction coding.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy.
  • Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage recurring deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Confidence working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competency using accounting and bookkeeping software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

  • Formal bookkeeping, accounting or finance qualifications.
  • Experience working with multiple entities, business units or client accounts.
  • Experience supporting month-end reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Payroll processing or payroll reconciliation experience.
  • Experience working within an outsourced, professional services or remote-working environment.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience with commonly used cloud accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Maintain accurate, current and well-organised financial records.
  • Complete reconciliations consistently and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure BAS, IAS and Fuel Tax Credit information is prepared accurately and on schedule.
  • Demonstrate strong ownership of assigned bookkeeping responsibilities.
  • Communicate issues early and provide clear information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish dependable processes that support efficient financial administration.
  • Be capable of taking on additional responsibilities as the role grows.
HOURS AND ROLE GROWTH

The role will initially require approximately 20 hours per week.

There is potential for the position to increase to up to 40 hours per week based on business requirements, performance and the capabilities of the successful candidate.

We are therefore particularly interested in candidates who are comfortable beginning on a part-time basis but would welcome the opportunity to increase their hours over time.

WHAT WE OFFER

At Digitek Outsourcing, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful bookkeeping responsibilities within a professional and delivery-focused environment.

We value people who are dependable, organised, proactive and committed to producing accurate work. For the right candidate, this role offers the opportunity to grow in both hours and responsibility.
