Job summary

Optum Philippines is seeking an AI/ML Engineer (NLP/OCR) to architect and deliver AI-driven solutions, modernize workflows, and improve telephony systems. You will mentor teammates, work with cross-functional teams, and solve complex problems using cloud platforms and MLOps practices.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in AI/ML engineering, hands-on experience with NLP, OCR, and cloud-native ML tools, and a strong CS foundation.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Natural Language processing.
• 3+ years of experience deploying and managing ML models on cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• 3+ years of experience leveraging cloud-native tools like Azure Machine Learning, AWS SageMaker, GCP AI Platform for model training, deployment, and monitoring.
• 2+ years of experience working with Retrieval-Augmented Generation.
• 6+ years of AI/ML engineering experience.
• Experience with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for document digitization and data extraction.
• Experience with Intelligent document processing.
• Deep experience with server-side frameworks: FastAPI, Node.js, Flask, Django.
• Experience with Dev/Sec/Ops, CI/CD, MLOps, LLMOps, and IaC (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Git).
• Expert knowledge of Python/SQL and AI/ML libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, SciKit, Seaborn).
• Familiarity with telephony systems incl. voice processing, speech recognition, and platform integration.
• Proven track record shipping production AI applications and data science products.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, testing, OOP, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Architect, hands-on delivery, mentor team, and coordinate with cross-team stakeholders.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and other development teams to deliver high-quality AI solutions.
• Tackle difficult and ambiguous problems with analytical rigor.
• Demonstrate teamwork, due diligence, creativity, and secure deliverables.
• Adhere to employment contracts, policies, and directives, including flexible work arrangements when applicable.
