Job summary

Optum is seeking an experienced AI/ML Engineer to design, architect, and deliver scalable AI solutions for enterprise initiatives. You will build NLP, RAG, OCR, and ML applications, deploying models across Azure, AWS, and GCP, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative AI-powered outcomes.

The role includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to architecture reviews while ensuring secure, scalable, and highly available AI systems.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of AI/ML engineering experience.
• 3+ years hands-on experience in NLP.
• 2+ years of RAG experience.
• 3+ years deploying ML models on cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• 3+ years using cloud-native AI/ML services (Azure ML, SageMaker, GCP AI Platform).
• Performance monitoring experience.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical design reviews and code quality standards.
• Implement secure, scalable, and highly available AI systems following industry best practices.
• Drive modernization efforts through AI automation, intelligent document processing, and advanced analytics.
• Solve complex business and technical challenges using modern AI and machine learning technologies.
• Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational requirements throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Participate in architecture planning, implementation, monitoring, optimization, and continuous improvement activities.

Job Qualifications

Education

• At least 2nd Year College Undergraduate with relevant experience
• Bachelor's Degree preferred, ideally in:
• Information Technology
• Computer Science
• Data Science
• Information Systems
• Other related technology programs

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of AI/ML Engineering experience
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• 2+ years of experience working with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• 3+ years of experience deploying and managing ML models using cloud platforms such as: Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• 3+ years of experience utilizing cloud-native AI/ML services such as: Azure Machine Learning, AWS SageMaker, GCP AI Platform
• Performance monitoring
