Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is looking for a Section Manager – Accounting is responsible for managing and overseeing accounting operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and effective financial controls within the retail and wholesale business environment. This role leads the accounting team in managing financial transactions, reconciliations, reporting, and process improvements while ensuring adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. The Section Manager works closely with Finance, Operations, Procurement, Inventory, and other departments to support sound financial management and business decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Accounting section, ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting activities.
- Oversee financial transactions, general ledger activities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records, supporting documents, and financial entries.
- Review and analyze financial reports, account balances, and operational financial data to identify discrepancies and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of sales, inventory, cash transactions, expenses, and other financial activities.
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting policies.
- Coordinate with Operations, Purchasing, Inventory, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
- Support financial audits by preparing required schedules, documents, and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Analyze accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate accounting staff to enhance team performance and professional development.
- Monitor accounting deadlines, workload distribution, and team productivity.
- Prepare accounting reports, performance updates, and management recommendations as required.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to assist business planning.
- Ensure proper documentation, filing, and retention of financial records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or relevant professional accounting certification is an advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or audit functions, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in retail, wholesale, distribution, or multi-site business operations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience using accounting software, ERP systems, and financial management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Willing to work flexible schedules during closing periods, audits, and peak business requirements.
