Job summary

Makro Philippines (CP Axtra AC Corporation) is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to support day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure accurate, timely financial reporting as we build out our finance function. This role works closely with the Accounting Manager, overseeing a small team and helping bring structure and discipline to our accounting processes as a fast-growing retail startup.

You will supervise operations, assist in month-end close, reconciliations, tax compliance, and audits

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA is an advantage but not required.
• 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience; retail industry experience is a plus.
• Prior experience supervising or guiding a small accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and month-end close processes.
• Proficient in accounting systems and MS Excel.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Review journal entries, accruals, and financial schedules for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, supplier accounts, and customer accounts.
• Maintain asset and liability records, including inventory and fixed assets.
• Support tax compliance, including preparation of tax filings and statutory reports.
• Assist in preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation for external audits.
• Guide and review the work of accounting staff, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the team.
