Job summary

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join Wercher Solutions and Resources Labor Service Cooperative on a contract basis. This role is based in Antipolo City, Rizal, and is crucial to our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance across our construction operations. As Safety Officer, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols that protect our workforce, comply with regulatory requirements, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organisation. This position plays a vital strategic role in ensuring that all construction activities are conducted safely and in accordance with applicable legislation and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes across all construction sites and operations

  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective and preventive actions

  • Provide safety training and induction programmes to all employees, contractors, and site personnel

  • Monitor compliance with occupational safety and health regulations, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and industry standards

  • Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and reporting, including incident logs and safety performance metrics

  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and external safety bodies to ensure ongoing compliance and certification

  • Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety committee meetings

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management and operational teams on safety matters and risk mitigation

  • Coordinate with emergency response teams and ensure preparedness for potential workplace emergencies

What we're looking for
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

  • Professional certification such as IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health), NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), or local equivalent HSE certifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar HSE role, preferably within the construction industry

  • In-depth knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations, environmental compliance standards, and construction site safety requirements

  • Strong competency in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations

  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to educate diverse audiences on safety matters

  • Proficiency in safety documentation systems and the ability to maintain detailed records and reports

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk management

  • Physical capability to conduct regular site inspections and assessments in various weather conditions

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
