Job summary

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety Officer to join Philippine SteelFraming Construction and Development Corporation. This is a full-time position based in San Fernando, Pampanga. As Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all personnel on our construction sites. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring safety protocols that comply with local and national regulations. This position is integral to our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of occupational health and safety across all our operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across all construction sites to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues

• Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures and standards aligned with Philippine construction industry regulations

• Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence

• Provide safety training and induction programmes to all construction personnel, ensuring understanding of safety requirements and best practices

• Monitor and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with safety protocols on site

• Maintain detailed safety records, statistics and reporting to support compliance with regulatory requirements

• Liaise with government agencies, safety regulators and external consultants regarding safety compliance matters

• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to raise awareness of emerging risks and reinforce safety culture

• Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety considerations into all construction activities and project planning

• Recommend improvements to safety equipment, processes and systems based on industry best practices and incident analysis

What we're looking for

• A recognised Safety Officer qualification or certification, such as a Safety and Health Officer Certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) or equivalent accreditation

• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry

• In-depth knowledge of Philippine occupational safety and health regulations, including the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and Construction Safety Code

• Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively convey safety information to personnel at all levels

• Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging safety training programmes

• Meticulous attention to detail with strong record-keeping and documentation skills

• Physical capability to conduct site inspections and work in construction environments

• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to develop practical solutions to safety challenges

• Leadership qualities and the ability to foster a positive safety culture across multiple project sites

• Preferred experience: Familiarity with steel frame and structural construction projects, ISO 45001 compliance or equivalent environmental, health and safety management systems
