Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have completed the 40-hour COSH Training.
• At least 1–2 years of relevant safety officer experience in construction projects (mid to high-rise).
• Familiar with OSH laws, CHSP, and Permit to Work processes.
• Strong leadership, observation, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily toolbox meetings and safety orientations for all site workers and new hires.
• Inspect the site regularly to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Enforce the implementation of approved Construction Health and Safety Programs (CHSP).
• Monitor proper use of PPE and ensure availability at all times.
• Investigate incidents, near-misses, or accidents and submit detailed reports with recommendations.
• Maintain records of site safety inspections, trainings, violations, and corrective actions taken.
• Coordinate with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure safety of operations.
• Assist in risk assessments, JHA, and SWMS preparation.
• Participate in emergency drills and ensure emergency equipment is functional.

Job description

I. About the Position

The Safety Officer (SO2) is responsible for implementing and monitoring safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment at the construction site. This includes conducting regular site inspections, ensuring compliance with local safety regulations (e.g., DOLE OSH Standards in the Philippines), and promoting a culture of safety among workers and contractors.

II. Responsibilities

• Conduct daily toolbox meetings and safety orientations for all site workers and new hires.
• Inspect the site regularly to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Enforce the implementation of approved Construction Health and Safety Programs (CHSP).
• Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure availability at all times.
• Investigate incidents, near-misses, or accidents and submit detailed reports with recommendations.
• Maintain records of site safety inspections, trainings, violations, and corrective actions taken.
• Coordinate with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure all operations are carried out safely.
• Assist in the preparation of risk assessments, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
• Participate in emergency drills and ensure emergency response equipment is in place and functional.
• Ensure compliance with government safety regulations (DOLE, DENR, LGU) and submit necessary reports.

III. Qualifications

• Must have completed the 40-hour Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) Training.
• With at least 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Safety Officer in construction projects specially Mid to High Rise Structures.
• Familiar with applicable laws, regulations, and safety codes (e.g., OSH Law, CHSP, Permit to Work).
• Strong leadership, observation, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Computer literate and proficient in safety reporting and documentation.
