Job summary

Gothong Southern Shipping is seeking a qualified Safety Officer in Cebu City to lead safety and security programs across port facilities. You will identify risks, conduct security surveys, and coordinate with emergency responders to safeguard personnel and cargo.

The role requires 3+ years as a safety officer, SO33, and DOLE basic Safety Officer training. The successful candidate will implement policies, supervise security staff, and help ensure business continuity during incidents.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years in a safety officer role.
• SO33 certification.
• Completed DOLE basic Safety Officer training.

Responsibilities

• Identify and groom succession plan for safety & security.
• Execute safety and security measures to protect personnel, cargo, equipment and properties.
• Conduct security surveys and maintain firefighting systems/equipment.
• Coordinate with SSD Manager and act as liaison during emergencies.

Job Description

• 1. People Perspective
• a. Accountable to identify and groom succession plan for safety & security
• b. Accountable to conduct port safety briefing and familiarization.
• c. Accountable for continuous and timely updates as to the latest practices related to safety and security
• 2. Process Perspective
• a. To Execute Safety and Security Measures to protect personnel, cargo, equipment’s & properties against any possible danger on port.
• b. Do constant security Survey i.e. premises, materials, personnel, locating safety hazards, fire hazards and position of fire extinguisher.
• c. Keep all firefighting system / equipment’s in readiness
• d. Keep the firefighting system / equipment’s in readiness all the time
• e. Constant monitoring / checking of all guarding personnel in their post.
• f. Do preliminary investigation of incidents and maintain records.
• g. Do Security Survey i.e. premises, materials, personnel, locating safety hazards, fire hazards and position of fire extinguisher.
• h. Act as a single point of contact during emergency / crisis situations and support business continuity.
• i. Identify existing or potential risk in the local environment and take counter actions in consultation with the SSD Manager.
• j. In charge of the administration of the security staff on outsourced rolls.
• k. Track performance of Security Agencies
• l. To support SSD Manager of the division in the execution and compliance to safety & security policies and initiatives.
• m. To ensure and maintain a safe and drug free working environment in compliance to regulatory requirements.
• n. Policy Creation/ Implementation/ Enhancement in regard to safety and security in cx land/ port.
• o. Accountable to coordinate w/ Risk management Cx land/port.
• p. Collate all results of the safety inspection on land & port and take corrective actions as necessary.
• 3. Customer Perspective
• a. Ensure a secure and safe work area for all customers, visitors and staff members.
• b. To maintain relationships with all appropriate Police, Fire & other Civil Agencies.
• 4. Financial Perspective
• a. Improve profitability of organization through prevention of malicious and unnecessary losses. ?
