Mactan Rock Industries, Inc. is seeking a Research and Development Specialist to conduct research, develop formulations, and optimize processes. The role involves laboratory experiments, pilot testing, and documenting results.

Conduct research and laboratory experiments for the development and improvement of products, formulations, and processes.
Assist in developing and optimizing chemical formulations, treatment processes, and technical solutions.
Perform laboratory trials, product evaluations, and comparative testing.
Identify opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction, efficiency enhancement, and alternative raw materials.
Assist in pilot testing and scale-up activities from laboratory to operational or production level.
Conduct research on new technologies, materials, chemicals, and industry practices relevant to the company.
Perform physical, chemical, and other laboratory tests as required by R&D projects.
Prepare samples, reagents, solutions, and laboratory materials needed for testing.
Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory samples.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures.
Verify and document test results accurately and promptly.
Conduct repeat testing or validation when results are inconsistent or require confirmation.
Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret laboratory and research data.
Prepare technical reports, test reports, research summaries, and product evaluation reports.
Maintain complete and accurate records of experiments, procedures, observations, and results.
Prepare graphs, tables, charts, and other analytical presentations when required.
Assist in establishing and maintaining R&D databases and technical documentation.
Ensure confidentiality of research data, formulations, processes, and other proprietary information.
Assist in investigating product, process, or laboratory-related issues.
Participate in root-cause analysis and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
Conduct testing to verify the effectiveness of process or product improvements.
Support the development and updating of laboratory procedures, testing methods, and work instructions.
Ensure compliance with applicable laboratory, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and other departments on R&D requirements.
Provide technical and laboratory support for product-related concerns and field requirements.
Assist in product validation, customer trials, and technical investigations when needed.
Participate in technical meetings, project discussions, and research presentations.
Assist in preparing technical information and recommendations for management review.
Follow laboratory safety rules, chemical handling procedures, and company policies.
Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and laboratory safety equipment.
Report laboratory incidents, hazards, spills, equipment problems, and unsafe conditions immediately.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory work environment.
Ensure proper disposal of chemical waste and laboratory materials in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Preferably with 1–3 years of experience in research and development, laboratory analysis, chemical testing, product development, or a related field.
Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, industrial chemicals, laboratory operations, or related industries is an advantage.
Knowledge of chemical analysis, laboratory procedures, formulation, and product testing.
Proficient in data gathering, analysis, interpretation, and technical report preparation.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment and standard laboratory practices.
Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain accurate records.
Willing to conduct laboratory, field, and product-testing activities as required.
Willing to work collaboratively with different departments.
