Job summary

Mactan Rock Industries, Inc. is seeking a qualified chemist to conduct chemical and physical analyses of water, wastewater, and raw materials. The role involves sample collection, handling, testing, reporting, and ensuring quality controls meet standards.

The successful candidate should have a Chemistry degree, preferably with Registered Chemist status, and 2–3 years of relevant laboratory experience. Willingness to perform site-based laboratory activities is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical and physical analysis of water, wastewater, chemicals, raw materials, and other samples.
• Collect, prepare, preserve, label, and handle laboratory samples.
• Perform laboratory testing using approved methods and procedures.
• Prepare and standardize chemical solutions, reagents, and materials.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Monitor and record laboratory test results accurately and systematically.
• Prepare laboratory reports and submit results within the required timeline.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure reliability and accuracy of test results.
• Assist in investigating abnormal or out-of-specification laboratory results.
• Coordinate with Operations and other departments regarding water quality, chemical testing, and laboratory requirements.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, orderliness, and proper inventory of chemicals and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
• Assist in sampling activities, inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Maintain complete and organized laboratory records and documentation.
• Identify and report laboratory equipment or testing issues to the immediate supervisor.
• Recommend appropriate corrective actions when laboratory results do not meet established standards.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related field.

• Preferably a Registered Chemist (RCh).

• With 2–3 years of relevant work experience in laboratory analysis, water treatment, environmental testing, manufacturing, or a related industry.

• Knowledgeable in chemical analysis, laboratory testing procedures, and quality control.

• Experience in handling laboratory instruments, chemicals, reagents, and samples.

• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and laboratory safety practices.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Detail-oriented and accurate in performing laboratory tests and documentation.

• Good communication and coordination skills.

• Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.

• Willing to conduct field sampling and perform site-based laboratory activities when required.
