JOB SUMMARY

Laboratory Analyst mainly analyzes all samples delivered to Water Treatment Plant Laboratory. Duties are analysis of water, coal, ash, and limestone samples, evaluate the results and implement immediate actions when parameters are out of specifications. He is responsible for the overall monitoring of the SWAS System and boiler dosing in each unit, as well as, the calibration monitoring of all online analyzers under the scope of Water Treatment Plant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Laboratory Analyst mainly analyzes all samples delivered to Water Treatment Plant Laboratory, maintain accuracy of all quality monitoring and instruments.

DUTY STATEMENTS:

• Analyze water samples in all Boiler units and monitor water quality during operation in accordance to standard operating procedures

• Conduct the analysis of coal, bottom ash, fly ash and limestone samples in the absence of Laboratory Auxiliary Operator

• Regularly coordinate with Control Room Engineer on actual boiler load so that adjustments in chemical dosing for boiler can be promptly and appropriately made following the established SOP set forth for this operation

• Implement basic maintenance procedures for proper handling of all laboratory equipment and Water Treatment Plant online analyzers, troubleshoot minor problems, and report defective equipment to the immediate superior for proper action

• Conducts necessary calibration procedures of all laboratory instruments under the scope of Water Treatment Plant

• Perform regular inventory of laboratory supplies and chemical reagents, report minimum stocks for replenishment and dispose expired chemicals in accordance with the waste chemical disposal procedure

• Prepare chemical reagents and solution standards needed in coal, ash, and limestone analysis in accordance with the ASTM Standards and established procedures

• Monitors dosing equipment in the field through inspection and regular check-up to guarantee correct function and replaces resin in conductivity columns at the sampling room area to ensure correct readings are reflected

• Assists the maintenance personnel during repair to facilitate the task

• Always maintain good housekeeping & 5S practices within its area of concern and ensurecompliance to ISO standard requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILTIY: Safety

• Follows Plant Safety Rules and Guidelines through always wearing of PPEs in the work area to prevent and avoid work related issues.

• Coordinates with Supervisors in complying with Safety requirements before the task is done to avoid safety related issues during at work.

• Participates in Safety drills and seminars to enhance Safety-related skills to provide assistance during emergency and in other cases when needed.

• Participates actively in health and safety programs including audits, safety inspections, investigation of incidents, hazard identification, risk assessments and any safety improvement initiatives.

• Reports immediately and taking measures proactively to reduce all workplace hazards and accidents.

EDUCATION, TRAININGS, LICENSES REQUIRED
