Job summary

Gateway Property Holdings, Inc. in General Trias, Cavite seeks a Laboratory Technician to support environmental monitoring and wastewater analysis. You will perform sampling, operate equipment, and prepare reports for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular sampling of wastewater and environmental samples.
• Ensure proper sample handling, labeling, and documentation.
• Perform physical, chemical, and biological analyses of wastewater.
• Operate lab instruments and record results.
• Monitor WWTP performance and assist in process optimization.
• Maintain laboratory records, safety, and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

• Environmental Monitoring
  • Conduct regular sampling of wastewater, treated effluent, surface water, and other environmental samples within Gateway Business Park.Perform field sampling from locator companies, nearby water bodies, and the Centralized Wastewater Treatment Plant (CWTP).
  • Ensure proper sample preservation, handling, labeling, and documentation following standard laboratory procedures.
• Laboratory Analysis
  • Perform physical, chemical, and biological analyses of wastewater samples including but not limited to: Total Coliform, pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), COD (Closed Reflux Method), BOD & Other applicable water quality parameters
  • Operate laboratory instruments such as:UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, DO Meter, pH Meter, Incubator, Analytical Balance & Jar Test Apparatus
  • Record, validate, and interpret laboratory results.
• Wastewater Treatment Plant Monitoring
  • Work closely with the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in monitoring treatment efficiency.
  • Monitor treatment performance through laboratory testing at different treatment stages.
  • Recommend appropriate process chemical dosage based on laboratory results.
  • Assist in monitoring and operation of aerators, pumps, chlorination system, and other treatment equipment.
  • Help identify operational issues and recommend corrective actions to maintain permit compliance.
• Environmental Compliance
  • Assist in environmental inspections of locator companies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Monitor compliance related to:Water Pollution Control, Air Pollution Control, Solid Waste Management & Hazardous Waste Management
  • Assist in preparation of environmental reports and monitoring data required by management and regulatory agencies.
• Laboratory Management
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through routine cleaning, calibration checks, and preventive maintenance.
  • Prepare reagents and standard solutions.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of:Laboratory chemicals, Process chemicals, Glasswares & Laboratory consumables
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of chemicals in accordance with laboratory safety standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping of the laboratory and department.
• Documentation
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, logbooks, and monitoring reports.
  • Prepare laboratory reports and summarize analytical results.
  • Ensure proper filing of laboratory and environmental monitoring records.
• Health, Safety, and Environment
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Handle chemicals and laboratory wastes safely.
  • Participate in emergency response activities and environmental incident investigations when necessary.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and basic report preparation.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Physically fit and willing to conduct field sampling.
  • Able to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
  • Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision.
