Job summary

Mactan Rock Industries, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Analyst to perform physical, chemical, and basic microbiological analyses of water and other samples.

You will collect and prepare samples, operate lab instruments, and ensure accurate reporting of results in a safe, compliant environment. The role requires 2-3 years of relevant experience, a bachelor’s degree in a related field, and preferably a Registered Chemist certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Preferably a Registered Chemist (RCh) or with relevant laboratory certification.
• With 2-3 years of relevant experience in laboratory analysis, water quality testing, environmental testing, manufacturing, water treatment, or a related industry.
• Knowledgeable in laboratory testing procedures, chemical analysis, sampling, and quality control.
• Experienced in handling laboratory instruments, chemicals, reagents, and samples.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety and proper chemical handling procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented and highly accurate in recording and interpreting laboratory results.
• Good organizational and documentation skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
• Willing to conduct field sampling and work in plant or operational areas when required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical, chemical, and basic microbiological analyses of water and other samples as required.
• Collect, receive, identify, prepare, and preserve samples for testing.
• Perform laboratory tests in accordance with approved procedures and standard methods.
• Prepare reagents, solutions, and materials for analysis.
• Operate, monitor, clean, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Calibrate and verify laboratory equipment as required.
• Record, calculate, validate, and report laboratory results.
• Prepare laboratory reports and submit results within timelines.
• Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy of results.
• Report abnormal results to supervisor.
• Assist in investigating unusual results and provide supporting data.
• Maintain inventory, labeling, storage, and handling of chemicals and supplies.
• Ensure proper disposal of chemical waste according to procedures.
• Maintain lab cleanliness, safety, and organization.
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Maintain complete laboratory records and logbooks.
• Assist during audits, inspections, sampling, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other departments on lab needs.
• Participate in field sampling and site laboratory activities when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conduct physical, chemical, and basic microbiological analyses of water and other laboratory samples, as required.

2. Collect, receive, identify, prepare, and properly preserve samples for laboratory testing.

3. Perform laboratory tests in accordance with approved procedures and standard methods.

4. Prepare reagents, solutions, and other materials required for laboratory analysis.

5. Operate, monitor, clean, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.

6. Conduct routine calibration and verification of laboratory equipment as required.

7. Accurately record, calculate, validate, and report laboratory test results.

8. Prepare laboratory reports and submit analytical results within established timelines.

9. Conduct quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.

10. Immediately report abnormal, inconsistent, or out-of-specification results to the immediate supervisor.

11. Assist in investigating unusual laboratory results and provide supporting analytical data.

12. Maintain proper inventory, labeling, storage, and handling of laboratory chemicals, reagents, and supplies.

13. Ensure proper disposal of chemical waste and laboratory-generated waste in accordance with company procedures.

14. Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the laboratory and work areas.

15. Follow all laboratory safety procedures, chemical handling protocols, PPE requirements, and company policies.

16. Maintain complete and organized laboratory records, logbooks, worksheets, and test documentation.

17. Assist during internal and external audits, inspections, sampling activities, and regulatory compliance activities.

18. Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other concerned departments regarding laboratory requirements.

19. Participate in field sampling and site laboratory activities when required.

20. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
