Job summary

IS PROFESSIONAL SERVICES OPC seeks a Network Operations Engineer to provide Tier 1 network support during off-hours, monitor health, and respond to alerts using documented runbooks. The role is remote, with onboarding during CST hours before shifting to off-hours.

You will troubleshoot enterprise switches, WLAN, and firewalls, execute changes, support hardware lifecycle activities, and maintain incident and change records while collaborating with the Network Engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 5 years hands-on configuration experience with enterprise networking gear.
• Strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless.
• Experience with change controls in a structured process.
• Live changes to network equipment in production environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line (Tier 1) network operations support during the off-hours window.
• Monitor network health, triage alerts and incidents, and resolve standard issues using runbooks.
• Execute engineer-approved change controls, including configuration changes to switches, wireless, and firewalls.
• Support hardware lifecycle activities, including patching, refresh, and equipment replacement.
• Serve as the remote escalation and support contact for site hands performing physical equipment replacements.
• Escalate complex issues to the Network Engineering team with clear documentation.
• Maintain accurate incident records, change documentation, troubleshooting notes, and handover updates.
• Follow established operational processes, change management procedures, and network runbooks.
• Participate in daily standups and collaborate with the Network Engineering team as required.
