Job summary

GoLean Health is seeking a proactive Virtual Medical Assistant (VMA) to provide end-to-end medical receptionist and admin support for a busy ophthalmology practice. You will act as a seamless extension of the in-clinic team, handling patient communications, scheduling, insurance verification, and secure payments from a remote home office.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of US-based clinic support experience, excellent spoken and written English, and a HIPAA certification before Day 1.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience supporting a US-based medical clinic.
• Exceptional verbal and written English communication, especially with an elderly patient base.
• Must complete a company-sponsored HIPAA compliance certification before Day 1.
• Work schedule of 30 hours per week with potential to expand to 40 hours.

Responsibilities

• Handle inbound and outbound calls, check voicemails, and triage messages.
• Manage clinic calendar, schedule patient appointments and surgeries, coordinate referrals.
• Verify insurance coverage, process prior authorizations, and collect patient payments securely.
• Sort and process emails and faxes from patients and providers; manage EMR inbox.
• Provide real-time updates to the in-clinic team about scheduling changes.
