Job summary

Hunt St Pty Ltd is seeking a Philippines-based HVAC Design & Estimating Engineer to support design, estimating, tender submissions, and heat load calculations for commercial projects. The role requires independent work, strong attention to detail, and alignment with Australian standards and NCC.

You will prepare quantity take-offs, BOQs, and tender packages, while coordinating with the business manager to meet tight deadlines in AU business hours.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in HVAC design, estimating, quantity surveying, or a similar role.
• Proficient in Bluebeam Revu, CostX, Buildsoft, or similar estimating software.
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and project specifications.
• Experience performing heat load calculations using HAP, Trace 700, or equivalent software.
• Solid Microsoft Excel skills — able to build and maintain estimating templates.
• Familiarity with Australian construction standards and HVAC specifications is highly regarded.
• Strong written and spoken English and reliable internet connection.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design work for HVAC installation projects in line with client and project requirements.
• Ensure all design and estimating work complies with relevant Australian standards, codes, and legislation (including the NCC, AS 1668, AS 3666, and AS/NZS 3000).
• Keep up to date with changes to relevant Australian building codes and standards affecting HVAC design.
• Measure and quantify materials and labour from PDF and CAD drawings.
• Produce accurate linear metre, m2, and item count take-offs for ductwork, pipework, equipment, and accessories.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from drawings and project specifications.
• Maintain and update Excel-based take-off templates and estimating spreadsheets.
• Compile and format complete tender packages including scope breakdowns, pricing schedules, and compliance documentation.
• Review tender documents and RFQs to identify scope, inclusions, exclusions, and conditions.
• Send RFQs to subcontractors and suppliers; consolidate pricing into the estimate.
• Assist with preparation of cover letters and tender submission documents.
• Log all variations raised during a project; maintain a variation register and assist in preparing variation claims.
• Track approval status of variations and flag outstanding items to the project team.
• Perform heat load calculations for commercial spaces; prepare room-by-room and system-level load summaries.
• Assist with equipment selection based on calculated loads and required minimum flow rates.
• Ensure calculations align with AS 1668 and NCC Volume 1.
• Assist with data entry and job setup in SimPro; maintain project files in OneDrive.
• Support quote follow-ups and client communication as directed.
