Job summary

MAVI is recruiting a Head Accountant to own the accounting function for a high-growth US company. This senior, hands-on role requires close collaboration with founders and leadership to ensure accurate financials and robust controls.

You will lead the close, manage US GAAP accounting, and coordinate audits while building scalable processes and systems. This role is remote with meaningful overlap with US business hours.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience including 3+ years leading a team.
• Ownership of the close and financial statements with independent accountability.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP incl. ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718.
• Experience leading audits or reviews with external auditors.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidation.
• Track record building policies, controls, and close procedures.
• Senior accounting partner to founders/leadership; present results clearly.
• ERP experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close with timely financial reporting.
• Own P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow under US GAAP and stand behind numbers.
• Manage technical accounting positions and supporting memoranda.
• Lead accounting team and external partners to standards and deadlines.
• Establish accounting policies, controls, and reporting standards.
• Oversee multi-entity accounting, consolidation, intercompany balances, forex.
• Own balance sheet reconciliations and item resolution.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and expenses per turnaround targets.
• Lead annual audit or review with auditor management.
• Coordinate US tax compliance with external CPAs.
• Present monthly/quarterly reports to CEO/board.
• Provide actuals, variance analysis and explanations for budgeting.
