Job summary

Asian Terminals Incorporated is seeking a vessel operations planner responsible for collecting and analyzing data to optimize work programs, coordinating with agencies and ship crews to minimize turnaround time while ensuring safe and compliant vessel operations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data affecting vessel operations for work programs.
  • Coordinate with shipping agencies on inbound/outbound volumes.
  • Prepare documents for vessel operations and discuss work programs with Control Tower and Shift Manager.
  • Advise on weight/dimensions for gears and stacking area.
  • Ensure DG and other cargo permits are obtained before discharge/loading.
  • Board vessels to discuss work programs with vessel command.
  • Monitor vessel operation progress with Control Tower to avoid delays.
  • Update work program in case of equipment breakdown or volume changes.
  • Correct container details when discrepancies arise.
  • Coordinate with Control Tower for discharge/load sequencing.
  • Send outward EDI, Scanplan, Stowplan, final recap and final load list after completion.

About the role

Collects pertinent vessel information relevant in the preparation of work programs with cost effective and efficient allocation and deployment of gangs and resources minimizing ship turnaround time and achieving the highest possible vessel productivity.

Key Accountabilities
  • Collects and analyze all data affecting vessel operation i.e.; ships particulars, location of ship’s crane that may affect the work program, clearances, ballast, cell guides, lashing instructions etc.

  • Coordinates with Shipping Agencies on the volume of inbound and outbound boxes including re-stow and transshipment.

  • Prepares essential documents for vessel operations. Discuss work program with Control Towel and Shift Manager

  • Advises Shift Managers, CT (Control Tower, fellow planners of OOG (Out of Gauge) weight and dimensions for preparation of gears, equipment and stacking area.

  • Ensures that all DG (Dangerous Goods) and other specialcargoes have their corresponding permit from various government agencies (PPA / Customs and others as required) prior to discharge and/or loading.

  • Board the vessel and coordinate / discuss the work program with the vessel’s command (if needed).

  • Monitors the progress of vessel operation throughout the shift. Working hand in hand with Control Tower to avoid conflict and delays with other vessels.

  • Make emends to work program if the situation so warrants. i.e. equipment breakdown and heavy volume of receivals and deliveries.

  • Make correction/s to container details (limited to numbers and equipment size and status i.e. transshipment, re-stow only) in case/s of discrepancies.

  • Coordinates with Control Tower for vessel’s discharge / load sequencing.

  • After completion of vessel, planner should send outward EDI, Scanplan, Stowplan, final load recap and final load list to vessel command and vessel operator or shipping line.

Qualities, Skills and Experience
  • Graduate of Engineering or any four-year Business course

  • With experience in port operations or other related industries

  • With good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Must be willing to work on shifting schedule

  • Open to fresh graduates
