Job summary

Ascendion in Metro Manila seeks a seasoned Performance Test Engineer to design and implement comprehensive test plans and cases aligned with business requirements and system architecture.

You will execute load, stress, endurance, and spike tests using industry tools, analyze results, and collaborate with development teams to drive actionable performance improvements across production and staging environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of proven performance testing or QA experience.
• Experience with JMeter/LoadRunner/Gatling or similar tools.
• Knowledge of SQL and database performance tuning.
• Understanding of cloud platforms and APIs.

What you'll be doing

• Design and develop comprehensive performance test plans and test cases aligned with business requirements and system architecture

• Execute performance testing activities including load testing, stress testing, endurance testing, and spike testing using industry-standard tools

• Analyse test results, identify performance bottlenecks, and provide detailed reports with actionable recommendations for improvement

• Collaborate with development teams, system architects, and stakeholders to establish performance baselines and acceptance criteria

• Automate performance testing scenarios to enable continuous performance monitoring and regression testing

• Monitor and evaluate application performance in production environments, identifying opportunities for optimization

• Document testing methodologies, test scripts, and performance metrics to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing

• Participate in capacity planning initiatives and provide insights on system scalability and resource requirements

• Stay current with emerging performance testing tools, techniques, and industry best practices

• Support troubleshooting of performance-related issues and work with technical teams on remediation efforts

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline

• 3-5 years of proven experience in performance testing or quality assurance within software development environments

• Strong proficiency with performance testing tools such as Apache JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, or similar platforms

• Solid understanding of performance testing methodologies, including load testing, stress testing, and scalability assessment

• Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript

• Proficiency in SQL and database performance tuning concepts

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their performance monitoring capabilities

• Understanding of application server architectures, API performance, and microservices environments

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is preferred

• Familiarity with APM tools such as New Relic, Dynatrace, or Splunk is advantageous
