We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee and coordinate payroll processing activities, ensuring payroll is completed accurately, efficiently, confidentially, and on time.
The ideal candidate will have strong end-to-end payroll experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to review payroll calculations, resolve discrepancies, manage reconciliations, and work effectively with employees, Finance Teams, management, and payroll providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate regular end-to-end payroll processing and ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met.
- Review timesheets, attendance, leave records, and other payroll inputs for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records.
- Review payroll calculations, including adjustments, allowances, deductions, and reimbursements.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies before payroll finalisation.
- Perform and support payroll reconciliations and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained.
- Prepare payroll reports, summaries, and management information.
- Respond to employee and management payroll enquiries professionally and promptly.
- Liaise with Finance Teams, payroll providers, and other stakeholders regarding payroll matters.
- Maintain and improve payroll procedures, documentation, processes, and internal controls.
- Support payroll system improvements and payroll-related projects.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of salary, payroll, financial, and employee information.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Payroll Manager, Senior Payroll Officer, Payroll Specialist, Payroll Administrator, or similar role.
- Strong practical knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing.
- Experience reviewing payroll calculations, timesheets, attendance, leave, allowances, deductions, reimbursements, and adjustments.
- Strong experience in payroll reconciliation and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify payroll discrepancies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using payroll, accounting, HRIS, or ERP systems is advantageous.
- Experience with Australian payroll processes and requirements is highly regarded.
- Qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is advantageous.
- Ability to use AI-powered productivity tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Gemini responsibly to improve payroll administration, reporting, and documentation while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
