Private Advertiser in Manila, Philippines is seeking an experienced Customs Brokerage Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize documentation flow across import/export activities.

The role leads a team of custom brokers, coordinates with authorities, freight forwarders, and clients, and drives SOPs, audits, and performance reporting to support management decisions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily custom brokerage operations, including documentation, clearance procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with customs authorities, port operators, and shipping lines to facilitate cargo clearance.
• Supervise a team of custom brokers and operations staff, ensuring SOPs and policies are followed.
• Monitor timely completion of customs documentation and declarations.
• Maintain comprehensive records for audit and regulatory purposes.
• Identify bottlenecks to optimise warehouse and distribution workflows.
• Liaise with clients to provide shipment updates and address queries.
• Develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and tariffs to ensure compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all daily custom brokerage operations, including documentation, clearance procedures, and regulatory compliance to ensure smooth import and export processes
• Manage and coordinate with customs authorities, port operators, and shipping lines to facilitate efficient cargo clearance and movement
• Supervise a team of custom brokers and operations staff, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and company policies
• Monitor and ensure timely completion of customs documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and declarations
• Maintain comprehensive records of all transactions, shipments, and customs clearances for audit and regulatory purposes
• Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks to optimise warehouse and distribution workflows
• Liaise with clients to provide updates on shipment status and address any concerns or queries
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance operational efficiency and maintain quality standards
• Stay current with changes in customs regulations, tariffs, and trade policies to ensure continued compliance
• Prepare regular performance reports and analytics to support management decision-making

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in custom brokerage operations or a similar role within the logistics and distribution industry
• In-depth knowledge of Philippine customs procedures, regulations, and documentation requirements
• Strong understanding of import/export regulations, tariff classifications, and trade compliance standards
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively
• Excellent organisational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Proficiency in customs management systems and warehouse management software
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to interact with customs officials, shipping companies, and clients
• Problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of Port of Manila operations and familiarity with major shipping lines is advantageous
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is preferred
