Job summary

Job description

I. Job Summary

A machine Specialist (or Operator/Technician) ensures the safe, efficient operation, set up, and maintenance of industrial machinery. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performing routine maintenance and repairs, monitoring production qualitiy, and training staff. They analyze machine performance to maximize productivity, maintain, and document maintenance logs , and adhere to safety protocols.

II. Duties and Responsibilities

A. Production Operations

• Raw and Packaging Materials Preparation. Check all materials according to the production plan; verify that quantity, quality, and weight are correct based on specifications.

• Machine Setup. Conduct daily start-up procedure. Adjust equipment settings and check all valves, pipes, and utility connections before starting.

• Daily Cycle. Strictly follow procedures for daily machine start-up, production, shut-down, and shift turn-overs. Ensures proper turnover of the machine operation to the next shift or to the reliever.

• Quality Control. Perform regular online checks on products to ensure they meet all quality standards. Follow standard parameters for dosage, time, and temperature. Verify daily production and expiration codes. Ensure all products meet set quality and safety specifications based on FSSC standards.

• Organization. Ensure machines are shut down correctly, and all materials (good or rejected) are weighed, labeled, and stored properly. Ensures that all machine parts/accessories and tools are inplace / secured and machines are turned-off before leaving the area. Conduct daily counts of materials and supplies when necessary.

• Documentation and Reporting. Maintain accurate, honest, and complete production logs and reports. Submit production reports on time. Reports quality and food safety issues and any potential or actual emergency situation to the immediate superior or authorized/designated person.

• Process Improvement. Monitors daily machine performance in terms of productivity, efficiency, and adherence to standards. Participate in RCA sessions and validation activities to help identify areas for improvement.

• Hygiene, Cleaning, and Disinfection. Conduct pre and post operation cleaning activities. Cleans, disinfects, and prepares the machine/s and surrounding area before and after operations in accordance with standard cleaning procedure. Maintain strict personal hygiene and keep the workspace, machine, and tools neat and clean at all times.

• Safety and Compliance. Adhere to all safety guidelines, protocols, and workplace regulations.

• Training. Train new staff and check the work reports of new operators. Oversee activities of the production crew, assisting the line/operators during operation.

• Performs other functions as may be assigned by a superior from time to time.

B. Equipment Maintenance

• Routine Care. Perform regular inspections, lubrication, cleaning, and basic maintenance on machinery.

• Troubleshooting. Fix machines quickly when they stop (corrective maintenance) and ensure scheduled preventive care is completed.

• Spare Parts. Checking of equipment parts specification and proper coordination with the spare parts custodian on inventories, requisition, replacement, and disposal.

• Reporting. Promptly report equipment issues to supervisors; assist in fixing problems.

III. Job Specifications

• Engineering Graduate (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical or Industrial)

• Preferably with at least 1 year of experience in food manufacturing (Production or Maintenance)

• Good physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks such as lifting or standing for long periods.

• Skills and Other Requirements: MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a must. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, instructions, and machine manuals is a must.
