About the role
The Logistics and Inventory Audit Staff is responsible for monitoring, verifying, and auditing inventory movements, warehouse records, deliveries, and logistics transactions. The position ensures that physical inventory matches system records and that logistics and inventory procedures are properly followed. The role also identifies discrepancies, investigates irregularities, and prepares reports and recommendations to improve inventory accuracy and operational controls.
Key responsibilities
Inventory Audit and Control:
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and stock audits.
- Reconcile physical inventory against system records and inventory documents.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, variances, shortages, overages, and damaged items.
- Verify the accuracy of receiving, issuing, transferring, and returning inventory.
- Check inventory records, stock cards, purchase orders, delivery receipts, and other supporting documents.
- Monitor proper tagging, storage, handling, and identification of inventory.
- Report unusual inventory movements or suspected policy violations to the appropriate supervisor.
Logistics Monitoring:
- Audit incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Verify delivery documents, receiving reports, dispatch records, and transportation documents.
- Monitor the movement of goods from receiving through storage and final delivery.
- Coordinate with warehouse, purchasing, sales, finance, and logistics personnel regarding discrepancies.
- Assist in investigating delivery shortages, damages, delays, and other logistics-related issues.
- Ensure that logistics transactions are properly documented and recorded.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, inventory procedures, and logistics controls.
- Identify weaknesses in existing inventory and logistics processes.
- Report non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of inventory, logistics, and company records.
- Participate in internal audits and special investigations when required.
- Follow applicable company IT, security, safety, and operational policies.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly inventory audit reports.
- Document audit findings, discrepancies, and corrective actions.
- Maintain organized and accurate audit working papers and supporting documents.
- Track unresolved discrepancies until proper resolution.
- Provide management with accurate information regarding inventory accuracy and logistics performance.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Business Administration, Internal Audit, or a related field.
- Preferably with experience in inventory, warehouse operations, logistics, audit, or stock control.
- Knowledge of inventory management and logistics processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet applications.
- Experience with ERP, warehouse management, or inventory management systems is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Willing to conduct physical inventory counts and visit warehouse or operational areas.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
