Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 5+ years of underwriting experience in insurance.
• 1–2 years in a senior/supervisory capacity preferred.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and risk pricing.
• Familiarity with Philippine insurance regulations and governance.
• Completed Intermediate and Advanced Insurance Courses from the Insurance Institute for Asia and the Pacific.
• Preferred: Certificate of Registration as Non-Life Underwriter.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day underwriting operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent processing of applications.
• Manage underwriting work queues, prioritise workloads, and allocate tasks to optimise productivity.
• Monitor underwriting quality, turnaround times, and operational performance; implement corrective actions.
• Review and recommend decisions on complex underwriting referrals, exceptions, and non-standard risks within delegated authority.
• Validate underwriting decisions involving premiums, benefits, policy limits, deductibles, exclusions, and other parameters.
• Serve as the technical escalation point and provide guidance to underwriters on complex matters.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance underwriting efficiency, quality, and customer experience.
• Develop and maintain underwriting manuals, SOPs, and underwriting rules for system enhancements.
• Coordinate User Acceptance Testing and ensure readiness for new product launches and underwriting enhancements.
• Ensure underwriting activities comply with internal policies, guidelines, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
• Prepare management reports, monitor KPIs, and analyse underwriting trends for performance decisions.
• Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and partner escalations with technical analyses.
