Manulife is seeking a Lead Data Analyst to prepare the most complex, non-standard reports for external customers using multiple data sources and query tools. You will translate requirements into accurate, timely reports while adhering to P&C guidelines.
The role covers automated reporting standards, data quality, ad hoc analytics, and governance across enterprise analytics outputs, with opportunities to influence strategy and drive continuous improvement.
The Lead Data Analyst is accountable for preparation of the most complex, non standard custom reports for our external customers using multiple source systems and query tools. This involves interpreting and obtaining clarification on the Client’s requirements to ensure the final report/s are accurate and can be produced in a timely manner. For all reports, data must adhere to our P&C guidelines.
Automated Reporting Solutions - Defines enterprise reporting standards and KPIs; transforms reporting into insight-driven decision frameworks and enables self-service analytics across business units.
Data Quality Assurance & Validation - Establishes data quality frameworks, validation methodologies, and audit mechanisms to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of enterprise analytics outputs.
Ad Hoc Analytics & Investigations - Leads highly complex, ambiguous, and cross-functional analytics initiatives; translates business strategy into scalable analytical solutions and actionable insights.
Report Lifecycle & Governance Management - Designs and governs enterprise reporting inventory frameworks ensuring relevance, optimization, and alignment to business value and strategic priorities.
Process Documentation & Knowledge Management - Defines documentation standards and ensures all analytics processes are scalable, reusable, and aligned with governance and audit requirements.
Requirements Analysis & Intake Management - Serves as the lead analytical consultant for complex business problems, leveraging advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning techniques to design, operationalize, and scale data-driven solutions that deliver measurable strategic and operational impact.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Governance - Leads strategic discussions with senior stakeholders; influences decision-making through data storytelling, insights, and executive-level communication.
Risk Assessment & Controls Monitoring - Ensures analytics solutions comply with enterprise data governance, security, and regulatory standards; proactively identifies and mitigates data risks.
Continuous Process Improvement - Drives enterprise-level process optimization through automation, advanced analytics, and scalable data solutions; sets best practices across teams.
University degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
5–10 years of relevant experience in strategy, transformation, project management, or analytical roles
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with demonstrated numerical aptitude and ability to independently analyze data
Basic knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tools
Solid PowerPoint skills with the ability to present data and insights in a clear, executive‑ready format
Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against timelines
Ability to synthesize both quantitative and qualitative information into clear takeaways
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfort working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with multiple stakeholders
Proficiency in Power BI, MS Excel, MS Access and other reporting technologies
Knowledge of SQL and other relational database technologies preferred but not required
Experience in data extraction, manipulation, and reporting
Excellent customer focus and a commitment to quality while still meeting deadlines
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of stakeholders including mid-level managers
