About the role
The Lead Civil Design & Estimating Engineer provides technical leadership in civil/structural design, quantity take-offs, cost estimating, bidding support, and technical and project documentation.
The position works closely with the Design, Estimating, and Project Management teams to ensure accurate, practical, and code-compliant engineering outputs.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review civil/structural design computations, drawings, and technical details.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, including NSCP, DPWH, ACI, ASTM, and relevant building codes.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project teams on design and technical concerns.
- Provide practical engineering solutions and recommendations.
- Review and analyze project drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and cost breakdowns based on design drawings and specifications.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering designs using AutoCAD, STAAD, or other relevant design tools.
- Prepare technical drawings, shop drawings, and as-built drawings for submission and approval.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior engineers and estimating personnel.
About you
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, construction estimating, cost control, or contract administration.
- Demonstrated experience handling medium to large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, specifications, and construction measurement.
- Experienced in preparing BOQs, detailed estimates, progress billings, variation orders, and final accounts.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial terms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other estimating/cost-control software.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other construction drawings.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead, coordinate, and work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
