The IT Technical Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users within an organization. This role involves resolving hardware and software issues, ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, and offering technical guidance to staff. The IT Technical Support Analyst plays a crucial role in maintaining IT infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring optimal system performance.
Provide first and second-level technical support to internal users for hardware, software, network, and IT systems-related issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems reported by users, either remotely or on-site.
Respond to helpdesk tickets, phone calls, and emails in a timely and professional manner, ensuring user issues are addressed efficiently.
Assist in the setup and configuration of user devices, including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment (printers, scanners).
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems, including operating system errors, application issues, network connectivity problems, and system crashes.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, patches, and virus/malware scanning to ensure systems are running optimally and securely.
Collaborate with IT teams to resolve complex issues and elevate problems as needed.
Assist with user account setup, configuration, and management in various systems (e.g., Active Directory, Office 365, etc.).
Reset passwords, unlock accounts, and manage permissions as required.
Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory, including tracking equipment lifecycle and ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.
Coordinate the procurement of IT hardware and software as needed.
Monitor network performance, system uptime, and security, identifying and addressing issues proactively.
Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity problems and ensuring that network systems are functional and secure.
Maintain detailed documentation of IT support requests, solutions, and procedures for future reference.
Create and update technical manuals and user guides to assist employees with common IT tasks and troubleshooting steps.
Provide training and guidance to end-users on the use of software, hardware, and IT systems.
Educate staff on IT best practices, security protocols, and safe computing habits to minimize risks.
Work closely with other IT staff and departments to ensure the effective functioning of IT systems.
Provide timely updates to users and management regarding the status of open support tickets and issues.
Adhere to company IT policies and security standards.
Assist in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) as it pertains to IT systems and user data.
Has Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Relevant technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), or ITIL Foundation Certification are a plus.
Has 1-3 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or technical support roles.
Experienced with a variety of operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) and applications.
Familiarity with network configurations, troubleshooting, and hardware diagnostics.
