Job summary

Sumitomo Electric in the Philippines (Laguna, Cabuyao) is seeking a logistics professional with college background and import/export experience. The role focuses on preparing and processing shipping documents, coordinating shipments, and ensuring compliance with trade laws and Incoterms.

You will work with suppliers, customers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, maintaining records and optimizing costs. Shift work and overtime are required.

Qualifications

• College graduate with related experience in logistics (preferably under Impex).
• Knowledgeable in import/export shipment operations and procedures.
• Familiar with PEZA and BOC rulings and procedures.
• Knowledge of Incoterms and trade documentation.
• Willing to work shifting schedule and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Documentation and Paperwork: Preparing, reviewing, and processing all necessary shipping and customs documents.
• Logistics Coordination: Coordinates the entire shipment process from pickup to delivery and carrier selection.
• Compliance with Regulations: Ensures adherence to local and international trade laws, tariffs, and regulations.
• Shipment Monitoring and Tracking: Monitors shipments in real-time and resolves delays or issues.
• Stakeholder Communication: Liaises with suppliers, customers, finance, sales, and customs brokers.
• Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintains records of import/export transactions and submits reports.
• Cost Management and Negotiation: Negotiates freight rates and handles claims and insurance coverage.
• Incoterms knowledge and regulatory compliance: Applies Incoterms and PEZA/BOC rulings as required.

• Knowledgeable in importation and exportation of shipment operations and procedures

Key Functions:

• Documentation and Paperwork: Preparing, reviewing, and processing all necessary shipping and customs documents is a critical function. These documents include commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations. Ensuring their accuracy is vital to avoid delays or legal penalties.
• Logistics Coordination: Coordinates the entire shipment process, from planning pickup and delivery schedules to choosing appropriate transportation modes (air, sea, or land) and managing warehousing needs. Works with freight forwarders, shipping companies, and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery.
• Compliance with Regulations: Ensures strict adherence to both local and international trade laws, tariffs, and customs regulations. This involves classifying goods, calculating duties and taxes, and staying updated on changing trade policies and free trade agreements.
• Shipment Monitoring and Tracking: Monitors the status and location of shipments in real-time to ensure they remain on schedule. They proactively identify and resolve any issues, delays, or unexpected problems that may arise during transit or customs clearance.
• Stakeholder Communication: Serves as a central point of contact, liaising with a wide range of parties including suppliers, customers, finance and sales departments, customs officials, and logistics providers.
• Record Keeping and Reporting: Responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed records of all import/export transactions for auditing purposes. This also includes preparing and submitting various reports to management and regulatory authorities.
• Cost Management and Negotiation: Can negotiate freight rates and shipping schedules with carriers to optimize supply chain efficiency and minimize costs. Also handles claims for lost or damaged goods and manage insurance coverage.
