Job summary

About the role

The Genset Technician will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of generator sets and related electrical and mechanical systems. The role ensures that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while minimizing downtime and supporting operational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generator sets and related equipment.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues.

• Conduct routine inspections, load bank testing, and operational testing to ensure equipment reliability.

• Repair or replace defective components, including alternators, starters, batteries, control panels, sensors, and fuel system parts.

• Install, commission, and test new generator sets and auxiliary equipment.

• Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance records, and equipment history.

• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and industry standards during maintenance activities.

• Coordinate with supervisor/manager/sales and customers regarding equipment status, maintenance schedules, and repair recommendations.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.

• Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform on-site service when required.

Qualification

• Graduate of a Technical/Vocational course or Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

• At least 2 years of experience in servicing and maintaining generator sets or industrial equipment.

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, electrical systems, and generator controls.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.

• Proficient in using electrical testing instruments and diagnostic tools.

• Willing to travel to project or customer sites and respond to emergency service calls when needed.

• Physically fit and able to work in industrial or outdoor environments.

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
