The Deputy Manager – Engineering and Maintenance is responsible for managing and ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all plant and off-site facilities, equipment, and utilities. This role ensures optimal performance at the lowest sustainable cost while maintaining full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Job Summary
The Deputy Manager – Engineering and Maintenance is responsible for managing and ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all plant and off-site facilities, equipment, and utilities. This role ensures optimal performance at the lowest sustainable cost while maintaining full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering & Maintenance Operations
- Lead and support the Engineering and Maintenance Group to achieve operational efficiency and reliability
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for plant facilities, machinery, and utilities
- Monitor plant condition through inspections, reports, and site tours
- Equipment Reliability & Performance
- Ensure maximum availability and performance of plant equipment
- Analyze downtime reports and implement corrective actions
- Optimize energy utilization and maintenance costs
- Project & Capital Management
- Oversee engineering projects, plant upgrades, renovations, and capital expenditures
- Plan and manage major shutdowns and maintenance schedules
- Safety, Health & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture across all operations
- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering and maintenance teams
- Collaborate with department heads and senior management to resolve plant issues
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
- Budget & Performance Management
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets
- Review KPIs and implement performance improvements
Job Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field)
- Licensed Engineer is strongly preferred
Experience
- At least 10–15 years of relevant experience in engineering and maintenance operations
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role
- Strong background in plant, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations
