ENGINEERING SUPPORT (TAKE-OFF ESTIMATOR)

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are continuously building our talent pipeline for experiencedTake-Off Techniciansspecializing inunderground precast concrete manufacturing and wet utility systems.

The successful candidate will support estimating and sales teams by producing accurate material take-offs and scope analyses for precast concrete products used in stormwater, sanitary sewer, and water distribution systems. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can interpret engineering plans, identify project requirements, and ensure accurate material quantification to support successful project bidding and execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Quantity Take-Off & Scope Analysis

• Review and interpret civil engineering plans, utility profiles, and construction drawings.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for:
• Manholes and sanitary sewer structures
• Storm drain structures and catch basins
• Wet wells and lift station components
• Water vaults and meter boxes
• Junction boxes and specialty precast structures
• Analyze rim and invert elevations, structure depths, and pipe schedules to determine accurate configurations.
• Identify structure diameters, riser sections, cones, flat tops, bases, and specialty precast components.
• Quantify required accessories including:
• Frames and covers
• Steps and ladders
• Pipe boots
• Waterstops
• Coatings and linings
• Core openings and penetrations

Estimating Support

• Prepare organized take-off summaries and cost input sheets.
• Collaborate with estimators and sales personnel to clarify project scope.
• Assist with bid preparation, pricing updates, and revisions.
• Identify missing information, design conflicts, or specification of discrepancies within project documents.
• Ensure take-off accuracy while managing multiple bid deadlines.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Support project turnover processes between estimating, engineering, and production teams.
• Provide technical insights regarding precast structure configurations and constructability.
• Maintain documentation standards and project records.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology or any related field.
• Minimum5 years of experienceperforming take-offs, estimating, or quantity surveying within:
• Underground utility construction
• Precast concrete manufacturing
• Civil infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of:
• Stormwater systems
• Sanitary sewer systems
• Water distribution systems
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings, utility profiles, and engineering plans.
• Knowledge of underground precast concrete structure components and configurations.
• Advanced attention to detail and strong mathematical skills.
• Experience using take-off and estimating software such as: Bluebeam, PlanSwift, AutoCAD, similar industry platforms
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight bid deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with municipal infrastructure projects and agency specifications.
• Familiarity with: Titan 3000, SolidWorks
• Previous experience supporting precast concrete manufacturing operations.
