JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for assisting in the design, estimation, preparation, and technical documentation of electronic and low-voltage fire protection systems. The role supports the Senior Design & Estimate Engineer by preparing drawings, equipment and material take-offs, technical submittals, and cost estimates for systems such as Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS), clean agent detection and releasing systems, and related electronic fire protection components, in accordance with project requirements, company standards, and applicable codes.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
A. ELECTRONICS DESIGN AND ENGINEERING SUPPORT
- Assist in developing electronic and low-voltage fire protection system designs, including FDAS, clean agent detection/releasing systems, Access Control, CCTV, and related electronic security and monitoring systems.
- Review project plans, specifications, equipment schedules, and design requirements to determine system requirements.
- Prepare CAD drawings, system layouts, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and device layouts under supervision.
- Assist in preparing system architecture, device schedules, input/output lists, basic cause-and-effect documentation, and system interconnection diagrams for FDAS, Access Control, and CCTV.
- Assist in performing basic engineering calculations and technical checks for devices, circuits, cable requirements, power supplies, and system capacity under supervision.
- Assist in selecting appropriate detectors, modules, control panels, access control devices, CCTV cameras, recording equipment, network/communication devices, accessories, and other electronic components based on project specifications.
- Support the preparation of shop drawings, technical submittals, and as-built drawings based on project execution updates.
- Ensure designs follow company standards, project specifications, manufacturers' requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct ocular/site visits, including out-of-town sites when required, to gather site information and verify actual conditions.
B. COST AND ESTIMATION SUPPORT
- Assist in preparing cost estimates for electronic fire protection equipment, devices, materials, labor, and accessories.
- Perform quantity take-offs for detectors, modules, notification devices, control panels, releasing components, access control devices, CCTV cameras, NVR/DVR equipment, network devices, cables, conduits, accessories, and other related materials.
- Review project scope and specifications to identify required fire alarm, clean agent, access control, CCTV, and other electronic system components.
- Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ), material lists, and technical/commercial proposals.
- Coordinate with suppliers and the Senior Engineer to obtain technical information, specifications, and pricing when required.
- Update estimates and material quantities based on design revisions, addenda, and changes in project scope.
- Assist in estimating manpower and installation requirements based on project needs.
C. COORDINATION AND TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION
- Coordinate with the Senior Design & Estimate Engineer for design, technical, and estimate validation.
- Support coordination with Implementation, Procurement, Business Development, and other departments regarding technical requirements.
- Assist in reviewing supplier quotations, product data sheets, and technical documents for compliance with project requirements.
- Organize and maintain electronic design, estimate, submittal, and project documentation.
- Ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy of submitted drawings, estimates, and technical documents.
