The role develops, implements, and monitors safety strategies across sites, providing high-level guidance to site Safety Engineers and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The incumbent leads investigations, risk assessments, and audits, while maintaining a strong safety culture and alignment with corporate policies and statutory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and licensed engineer.
• Proven experience leading safety management teams in high-hazard settings.
• Experience in incident investigations and regulatory reporting.

Job description

Seeking a Corporate Health and Safety Superintendent to join a mining firm's Health, Safety, and Security leadership team. Reporting directly to the Head of Health, Safety, and Security, this role develops, implements, and monitors health and safety strategies, standards, and advisories across operational sites. The role provides high-level technical guidance to site Safety Engineers, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives a strong safety culture across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and manage the performance and technical execution of site Safety Engineers across operational facilities.

• Drive the implementation of corporate health and safety initiatives to foster a proactive, zero-harm safety culture.

• Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert and on-site advisor for all health and safety concerns.

• Lead comprehensive accident and incident investigations, root-cause analyses, risk assessments, and corrective action plans.

• Conduct routine health and safety inspections, audits, and hazard surveys to ensure continuous site safety improvements.

• Review, update, and align corporate health and safety policies with site-level operational workflows and regulatory changes.

• Validate health and safety metrics, track key performance indicators, and oversee compliance with all statutory reporting requirements.

• Monitor evolving health, safety, and security trends to dynamically adjust programs, emergency response plans, and site standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in any 5-year Engineering program; must be a licensed Engineer.

• MGB Certified Safety Engineer or Safety Inspector credential.

• Minimum of 5 years of dedicated safety management experience within a safety-conscious industry (mining, heavy manufacturing, construction, or mineral processing).

• Active Driver’s License.

• Proven track record in leading incident investigations, hazard analyses, safety audits, and regulatory compliance reporting.

• Strong leadership, technical communication, team management, and operational accountability.
