The District Manager is responsible for leading multiple store locations within an assigned territory to achieve operational excellence, sales growth, profitability, and exceptional guest experiences. The role serves as a coach, culture builder, and business leader, ensuring that every store consistently delivers The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf brand promise while developing high-performing teams aligned with the organization's values.
The District Manager partners closely with Store Managers to drive business performance, strengthen people capability, and foster a culture of accountability, hospitality, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Business Performance & Profitability
- Drive sales, profitability, and operational performance across assigned stores.
- Analyze sales trends, labor productivity, and financial results to identify opportunities and address gaps.
- Develop and execute action plans to achieve revenue, cost, and profitability targets.
- Monitor key business metrics and ensure stores consistently meet performance goals.
- Lead initiatives that improve guest traffic, average transaction value, and store productivity.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure consistent execution of operating standards, policies, and procedures across all stores.
- Conduct regular store visits and audits to assess operational performance, cleanliness, food safety, and service quality.
- Champion operational discipline and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, government regulations, and safety standards.
- Partner with support functions to resolve operational challenges and improve efficiency.
Leadership & People Development
- Coach, mentor, and develop Store Managers and Store Deputies to maximize their leadership effectiveness.
- Build strong talent pipelines by identifying high-potential team members and supporting succession planning.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and development discussions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Serve as a role model of the company's values of Humility, Fearlessness and Trustworthiness.
- Champion initiatives that strengthen Team Member engagement, passion, and strong organizational culture.
- Ensure Store Managers actively reinforce values-based leadership and positive workplace practices.
- Build alignment between business objectives and the company's values.
Guest Experience
- Ensure stores consistently deliver exceptional guest experiences and hospitality standards.
- Monitor customer feedback, guest satisfaction scores, and service recovery efforts.
- Lead initiatives that enhance customer loyalty and strengthen brand reputation.
- Promote a guest-first mindset across all stores.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner effectively with Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, People & Organization and Training.
- Collaborate with shared services to implement company initiatives and drive operational improvements.
- Communicate organizational priorities and ensure alignment across all stores.
- Provide timely and accurate reports on district performance and business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Human Resource Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of cafe, restaurant, or hospitality management experience.
- Proven experience leading multiple locations and developing store leadership teams.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze financial and operational performance.
- Excellent coaching, leadership, and people development skills.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to travel regularly across assigned store locations.
