The Pre-sales Design Engineer is responsible for developing technical and engineering deliverables during the pre-sales stage of solar and BESS projects. The role supports the Sales Department by translating customer requirements and site conditions into technically feasible, optimized, and commercially viable solar energy solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Pre-Sales Design & Technical Proposals
- Develop technical proposals and design deliverables for solar and BESS projects.
- Prepare and optimize PV layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), Bill of Materials (BOM), and system sizing.
- Perform PVsyst simulations, energy yield analysis, shading analysis, and other technical assessments to support project proposals.
- Conduct BESS sizing and energy storage calculations based on customer load profiles, operating requirements, and proposed system configuration.
- Ensure designs consider site conditions, customer requirements, applicable codes, and project constraints.
- Review and evaluate RFPs/TORs, and other technical requirements to identify project scope, design criteria, technical specifications, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
- Translate RFP/TOR requirements into appropriate design assumptions, system configurations, technical solutions, and proposal deliverables.
- Identify technical clarifications, risks, constraints, and deviations and coordinate with the Sales team as necessary.
2. Site Assessment
- Conduct site inspections to assess roof/land conditions, available installation areas, electrical infrastructure, access, shading, and other site constraints.
- Gather and validate technical information required for pre-sales design and project evaluation.
- Identify technical risks, constraints, and opportunities and provide
- recommendations to the Sales team.
3. Proposal & Business Development Support
- Work closely with the Sales team in developing technical-commercial proposals.
- Provide technical inputs during client presentations, technical discussions, and clarifications (if needed).
- Support solution optimization and value engineering to achieve the required capacity, performance, and commercial targets.
- Revise designs and technical proposals based on customer requirements and commercial strategy.
4. Design Quality & Documentation
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of all pre-sales design outputs.
- Maintain standard templates, design assumptions, calculation methodologies, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, and other relevant teams during project handover.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Registered Electrical Engineer (REE)
- Strong understanding of photovoltaic systems, PEC/IEC standards, and construction practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in PVsyst, AutoCAD, and relevant design tools
- Knowledge of BESS sizing and energy storage applications
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, load profiles, and site information
- Proven ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Eagerness to learn and apply new technologies in a dynamic work setting.
