Technical Field Service Engineer - Solar PV & BESS (Residential & C&I)
Position Summary
The Technical Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing high-quality technical support and customer service for Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions across Residential and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) projects. The role involves commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, technical training, and system performance optimization.
The successful candidate will support customers, installers, EPC contractors, and channel partners through on-site services, remote technical support, hotline assistance, and email communications. The position also serves as a technical representative of the company during customer meetings, training sessions, seminars, webinars, and industry events.
This is a permanent full-time role requiring frequent domestic travel and occasional overseas travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, system acceptance, and handover activities for Solar PV and BESS projects.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support for Solar PV systems, hybrid inverters, battery energy storage systems, monitoring platforms, communication devices, and related electrical equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair activities to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to PV inverters, batteries, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), monitoring platforms, communication networks, and other system components.
- Ensure all field service activities comply with local electrical regulations, company standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Coordinate service activities with customers, installers, EPC contractors, service partners, and internal departments to ensure timely completion of service requests and project milestones.
- Manage service cases and maintain accurate records of commissioning reports, maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, warranty claims, service expenses, and customer feedback.
- Support service partner management activities, including technical guidance, training, performance evaluation, and coordination of field service work.
- Identify opportunities for service revenue generation through maintenance contracts, spare parts sales, warranty extensions, system upgrades, and value-added service offerings.
- Monitor system performance, analyze operational data, conduct root-cause analysis, and provide recommendations to improve system efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver technical training, product demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing sessions for customers, installers, EPC partners, distributors, and service providers.
- Represent the company as a technical expert during customer meetings, technical workshops, webinars, exhibitions, industry events, and conferences.
- Support the sales and business development teams by providing technical expertise, conducting site assessments, and presenting Solar PV and BESS solutions to prospective and existing customers.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and business partners to support long-term cooperation and business growth.
- Communicate effectively with management, sales teams, service partners, and customers to support operational excellence and business objectives.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or other related Engineering disciplines.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in field service, commissioning, technical support, operations and maintenance, or related roles within the renewable energy, solar, energy storage, or power electronics industry.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in Solar PV system installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid inverter systems, energy management systems, or related renewable energy technologies is highly preferred.
- Experience working with Residential and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Solar PV projects is an advantage.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technical reporting tools.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, Modbus communication protocols, remote monitoring platforms, and networking fundamentals is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills in English. Chinese language proficiency is a plus.
