Job summary

Columbia Shipmanagement Ltd. seeks a Crewing Operator to manage crew changes, ensuring compliance with SEAs, STCW, and flag state rules. The role requires coordinating with Crewing Superintendent and other teams to maintain smooth operations.

The successful candidate will monitor training/qualification status, communicate with the Wages Department, and support process improvement within the Crewing Department. This is an on-site position in Metro Manila, Philippines.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience onboard a ship or ashore in shipping/ ship management.
• Good command of the English language.
• Proficient computer skills and software usage.
• Strong organizational and coordination abilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct crew changes in line with Seafarers’ Employment Agreements and Crewing SOPs.
• Verify Seafarers are trained and qualified per Company, STCW and Flag State rules.
• Inform Crew Wages Dept about changes in employment status (signing on/off).
• Notify relevant parties of medical cases/accidents and follow up.
• Arrange for Cash to Master and review Travelling Expenses for payment.
• Support continuous improvement and update Company Management System procedures.

The Crewing Operator Shall Have The Following Qualifications

• A minimum of two (2) years working experience onboard a ship or ashore in a shipping/ ship management company;
• Good command of the English language;
• Computer knowledge;
• Organizational skills.

Job Description

• Conducting crew changes in compliance with the Seafarers’ Employment Agreement and as agreed with the Crewing Superintendent;
• Verifying that all Seafarers are trained and qualified in full compliance with Company’s, STCW and Flag State requirements;
• Informing Crew Wages Department on any changes of the employment status, i.e. signing on and off of seafarers;
• Informing relevant parties of any medical cases/accidents and follow up of these cases;
• Arranging for Cash to Master;
• Verifying and approve for payment of Travelling Expenses upon request;
• Performing any other special tasks as may be assigned;
• Being adequately conversant with the Company’s Management System;
• Implementing effectively the Company’s Management System;
• Contributing to the development of new or the amendment of existing procedures;
• Promoting and supporting efforts for continual improvement.

The Crewing Operator reports to and is accountable to the Crewing Superintendent or to the Assistant Crewing Superintendent as required.

The Crewing Operators shall work closely together and communicate effectively with each other. They shall back each other up thus contributing to the smooth operation of the Crewing Department during their absence.
