Job Description
The Crewing Manager is responsible for managing the recruitment, placement, and overall management of crew members for maritime or aviation operations. This role ensures that the appropriate personnel are assigned to vessels or aircraft in compliance with regulations, safety standards, and company policies. The Crewing Manager will oversee crew schedules, certifications, training, and ensure operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Responsibilities
Crew Management:
- Oversee the recruitment, selection, and assignment of crew members to vessels, aircraft, or offshore platforms.
- Develop and maintain crew schedules to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
- Monitor crew performance and address any personnel issues promptly.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that crew members hold the required certifications, licenses, and training to comply with local and international maritime or aviation regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure crew members adhere to them.
Training and Development:
- Organize and coordinate training programs to ensure crew members are proficient in operational tasks, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Track crew members\' qualifications and ensure they are current.
Recruitment & Staffing:
- Work closely with HR and recruitment agencies to identify and hire qualified personnel.
- Maintain a pool of qualified crew members to meet operational demands.
- Ensure that crew members\' welfare is well-managed, including accommodations, travel arrangements, and medical support.
- Act as the primary point of contact for crew members\' concerns, resolving any issues related to work-life balance, conflict, or safety.
Budget & Resource Management:
- Manage crewing budgets, optimizing costs while maintaining staffing levels and operational requirements.
- Ensure resources are allocated effectively, minimizing downtime due to crew shortages.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of crew assignments, certifications, training, and performance.
- Provide regular reports on crew performance, staffing levels, and other key metrics to senior management.
Safety & Emergency Management:
- Ensure all crew members are familiar with safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Work with operations teams to ensure proper safety standards are upheld across all vessels/aircraft.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Aviation Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in crewing, recruitment, or workforce management within the maritime, aviation, or oil & gas industries.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry regulations and certification requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
- Proficiency with crew management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
