Job summary

Makati Shangri-La, Manila is seeking a Commis Chef to join our flagship hotel kitchen in the heart of the city. You will contribute to preparing quality dishes for restaurant and banquet functions under the guidance of senior chefs.

We value creativity, adaptability, teamwork, and a proactive mindset. Fresh Culinary College graduates are welcome; English fluency (with local language) is required for smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and able to communicate clearly.
• Must be a culinary college graduate; fresh graduates welcome.
• Creative, rational, productive, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Ensure awareness of the importance of good, quality food and hence, make every effort to prepare the best food possible.
• Have a thorough knowledge of the hotel and his/her kitchen’s facilities and personnel involved.
• Have a knowledge of food service techniques and menu contents
• Be aware of the hotel fire and safety and emergency procedures.
• Ensure that food quality and standards are maintained at all times when preparing for restaurant and banquet functions
• Assist in food stock taking as required
• Adhere to all rules and regulations set by the management
• Contribute and work as a team in the general operations of the kitchen(s), offering to assist fellow colleagues when required
