Job Title: Commercial Contracts Specialist (Engineering/Construction)
Client: EPEC Group
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite in BGC, Taguig / 2 days remote)
Compensation: Highly competitive base + comprehensive benefits (Commensurate with experience)
About Our Client
We are proudly partnering with EPEC Group, a forward-thinking organization whose vision is to enable a sustainable future by connecting renewable resources. EPEC operates heavily within the power and renewable energy sectors and is driven by core values of Customer Centricity, Certainty, Enjoyment, Future Focus, Integrity, and Safety. We are searching for a highly skilled Commercial Contracts Specialist to join their expanding internal team and provide dedicated commercial and contractual support directly to their Engineering department.
The Role
Acting as an extension of EPEC Group’s Commercial and Corporate Services team, you will be the gatekeeper for their project engagements. You will review engineering consulting and professional services agreements, identify risk provisions that fall outside the company's risk tolerances, and champion sound governance across contract approval, execution, and engagement. You will act as a critical bridge between technical engineering teams and Senior Leadership, ensuring all commercial risks are clearly understood, documented, and mitigated.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Review & Analysis: Review both client-issued and supplier-issued terms, including engineering consulting agreements, professional services agreements, and NDAs.
- Risk Mitigation: Analyze key commercial provisions such as limitation of liability, indemnities, insurance, intellectual property, warranties, standard of care, and dispute resolution. Draft proposed amendments and negotiation positions in consultation with the Commercial and Legal team.
- Tolerance Assessment & Escalation: Identify contractual provisions that exceed EPEC's risk tolerances (e.g., uncapped liability, consequential loss exposure, or fitness for purpose obligations) and escalation to the Commercial Manager, General Counsel, or Senior Leadership with clear recommendations.
- Governance & Execution: Coordinate internal reviews and approvals in strict accordance with EPEC Group's Delegations of Authority. Ensure agreements are executed correctly with authorized signatories and draft the EPEC Document Execution Form (DEF).
- Record Management: Maintain a current register of contractual departures, approvals, and outcomes, alongside accurate records of executed agreements in EPEC's document management systems.
- Process Improvement: Develop and maintain templates, checklists, and process guidance, while preparing clear contract summaries and reference sheets for EPEC personnel.
About You
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in a contract advisory, contract administration, or commercial role, preferably within the engineering, construction, energy, or electrical contracting industries. Prior experience supporting Australian clients or working with Australian standard contracts is highly advantageous.
- Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of contract principles and the commercial risk provisions commonly found in consulting and professional services agreements.
- Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to identify contractual risk, articulate it clearly to technical audiences, and escalation through appropriate governance channels.
- Governance Expertise: Working knowledge of contract governance processes, including delegations of authority, approvals, and execution.
- Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple agreements and competing priorities concurrently.
- Education: A tertiary qualification in business, commerce, law, or a related field is highly desirable.
What Is On Offer
- Premium Compensation Package: A highly competitive base salary tailored to your senior-level expertise, supplemented by non-taxable allowances.
- Work-Life Balance: Premium hybrid setup with 3 days onsite at a modern BGC office and 2 days remote.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Generous PTOs, premium HMO coverage for you and your dependents, statutory benefits, and company-provided work assets.
- Career Growth: Direct, long-term integration with an industry leader, gaining premium exposure to international engineering consultancies and the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
