Vako Logistics is seeking a driven Carrier Sales Representative to connect with carriers, negotiate competitive rates, secure reliable capacity, and ensure freight moves efficiently.

You will proactively source carriers, build long-term relationships, coordinate with internal teams, and meet targets related to outbound calls, load bookings, and profitability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in carrier sales or similar logistics roles.

Responsibilities

• Proactively source and qualify carriers through load boards, internal databases, referrals, and outbound calls.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with reliable motor carriers.
• Negotiate competitive freight rates while balancing profitability and service requirements.
• Match available freight with carrier capacity and secure timely load bookings.
• Coordinate with carriers regarding load details, pickup and delivery updates, and shipment tracking.
• Monitor shipments and proactively address delays, service issues, and other operational concerns.
• Maintain accurate carrier, load, and shipment records in CRM and TMS platforms.
• Collaborate with internal sales, operations, dispatch, and pricing teams to ensure efficient freight coverage.
• Meet performance targets related to outbound calls, load bookings, carrier performance, and profitability.

What You'll Do

• Proactively source and qualify carriers through load boards, internal databases, referrals, and outbound calls.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with reliable motor carriers.
• Negotiate competitive freight rates while balancing profitability and service requirements.
• Match available freight with carrier capacity and secure timely load bookings.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, 3PL operations, logistics coordination, or a related transportation role.
• Experience negotiating freight rates, booking loads, and building carrier relationships.
• Strong outbound calling, communication, negotiation, and objection-handling skills.
• Comfortable making high-volume cold calls and developing new carrier partnerships.
• Knowledge of transportation modes, freight operations, and market dynamics.
• Familiarity with TMS platforms, DAT, Truckstop, Carrier411, SAFER, MacroPoint, or Project44.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Self-motivated, resilient, competitive, and capable of working independently.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in freight brokerage or asset-based/non-asset-based 3PL environments.
• Familiarity with dry van, box truck, intermodal/drayage, or specialized freight.
• An established network of carrier contacts.
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
