Job summary

Achen Henderson is seeking a Bookkeeping Manager to own a portfolio of 15–30 clients, lead a team of bookkeepers, and partner with the Director of Bookkeeping. The role emphasizes client ownership, quality control, and process improvements within a cloud-based accounting environment.

Onboarding is in‑person but remote or hybrid arrangements may follow for exceptional candidates, with long-term remote options possible for strong performers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in public practice.
• Ability to work accurately and independently within defined systems.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian small-business tax (GST/HST, payroll, year-end prep).
• Experience with CRA portals and filings (T4/T5/T5018).
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and collaborate across teams.
• Proficient in cloud tools (Xero, QBO, Dext, Hubdoc).
• Highly organized, proactive, and excellent communicator.
• Experience guiding or coaching bookkeepers.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle bookkeeping for a subset of clients and review work of team members.
• Manage month-end close, reconciliations, clean-ups, and prepare financial reports.
• Prepare year-end files and coordinate with the tax team on T2s, GST/HST, payroll.
• Apply strong accounting controls to maintain clean, documented client books.
• Review and approve bookkeepers' work across client files.
• Coach and onboard new bookkeepers and conduct quarterly performance checks.
• Collaborate with GURU Bookkeeping team on client deliverables and cloud migrations.
• Assist with scoping and renewals for new/existing clients and address questions.
