AT A GLANCE
The Area Manager is responsible for leading and driving the performance of a group of stores, typically managing multiple stores of varying sales volumes, from low- to high-performing locations. This role ensures the achievement of business objectives through strong leadership, operational excellence, strategic execution, and talent development. The Area Manager serves as the primary link between store operations and Head Office, ensuring consistent execution of company standards while driving sustainable sales growth and profitability across the assigned area.
YOUR OVERALL MISSION & DAY-TO-DAY
Business Performance & KPI Management
- Lead and assume overall responsibility for the sales, profitability, and performance of all assigned stores.
- Analyze retail metrics, identify trends, anticipate business risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to improve performance across the area.
- Monitor key performance indicators including sales, conversion, ATV, productivity, inventory health, and labor efficiency.
- Drive accountability among store leaders by coaching them on KPI management, action planning, and business ownership.
- Establish performance expectations and ensure stores consistently achieve business and profit objectives.
- Review store performance regularly and implement corrective actions to address gaps and maximize results.
- Prepare and present business reviews, performance updates, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Ensure consistent execution of company SOPs, operational standards, visual merchandising guidelines, and customer experience expectations across all assigned stores.
- Proactively audit store operations and strengthen compliance through regular store visits, performance reviews, and coaching.
- Develop, improve, and implement store processes and procedures aligned with company standards and operational requirements.
- Ensure inventory accuracy, stock accountability, loss prevention, and proper execution of inventory-related processes.
- Partner with store leaders to identify operational challenges and implement sustainable solutions.
- Maintain strong alignment and collaboration between Operations, Optometrists, and Head Office support functions while upholding company policies and standards.
- Ensure store teams consistently deliver a high-quality customer experience and represent the brand appropriately.
Retail Planning & Execution
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor the execution of campaigns, promotions, product launches, and business initiatives across all assigned stores.
- Anticipate operational challenges and align multiple stores to ensure smooth and consistent execution.
- Ensure retail initiatives are delivered on time, meet brand standards, and generate the intended business impact.
- Allocate resources, manpower, and operational support to maximize execution effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support company priorities and strategic initiatives.
- Represent the business in engagements with external suppliers and operational partners as needed.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Store Managers and other retail leaders to build a high-performing organization.
- Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and development opportunities that strengthen leadership capability and business performance.
- Ensure succession planning and talent pipeline development across the assigned area.
- Partner with PMD in recruiting, selecting, and onboarding team members who embody the company's values and culture.
- Monitor workforce productivity, staffing levels, scheduling practices, and overall team effectiveness.
- Identify employee-related concerns and performance issues and implement appropriate development or corrective actions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
