Century Pacific Food, Inc. seeks an API Architect to lead enterprise API architecture, governance, and platform strategy. You will set design standards, oversee ARB, and align API initiatives with business goals across cloud and on-premise environments.
You will define integration patterns, ensure data integrity, and enforce security controls (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, mTLS, JWT) to support scalable, compliant API products.
The API Architect is the foremost technical authority on API architecture within the organization. This role is responsible for establishing the architectural vision, design patterns, and engineering standards that govern how APIs are built, integrated, and evolved across the enterprise. The API Architect ensures the organization’s API landscape is cohesive, future-proof, secure, and aligned with both technical strategy and business outcomes. This role operates at the intersection of enterprise architecture, software engineering, and platform strategy - influencing technology decisions at the highest level.

Establish API design standards, style guides, patterns, and guardrails for internal, partner, and public-facing APIs
Lead the API Architecture Review Board (ARB) and govern design approvals for significant API changes and platform onboarding
Drive API portfolio decisions - build vs. buy vs. integrate - aligned to organizational strategy
Manage technical debt and rationalize legacy integration points toward a target-state API architecture
Define integration architecture across enterprise applications, cloud platforms, and external partner ecosystems
Establish API gateway strategy, middleware patterns, and event-driven integration standards (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, AsyncAPI)
Govern data consistency and integrity across integrated systems through well-managed API contracts
Define interface design, messaging frameworks, and versioning standards between internal services and external platforms
Lead service mesh and API connectivity strategy for microservices-based and hybrid cloud environments
Apply security-by-design principles across all API layers handling sensitive organizational and customer data
Design zero-trust API security architecture incorporating OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, mTLS, and JWT standards
Conduct API threat modeling, security reviews, and vulnerability assessments for proposed integrations
Collaborate with Information Security on data protection, access control governance, and cyber resilience
Architect regulatory compliance for APIs subject to GDPR, PSD2, HIPAA, or industry-specific mandates
Provide architectural oversight for API-driven platform implementations, digital transformation, and system integration initiatives
Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable, compliant API technical solutions
Conduct feasibility assessments for new API technology initiatives including cloud-native APIs, AI/ML integration, and event streaming
Support RFP/RFI processes with API architecture input and platform vendor evaluation
Define reference architecture for API toolchain including CI/CD, testing, observability, and developer portal
