Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Officer to join our client's finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounts receivable activities, ensuring accurate financial records, coordinating customer payments, and supporting timely collections.

This role requires someone with solid mid-level accounts receivable experience, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with an Australian-based finance team. The successful candidate will also participate in a structured handover and training period to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, generate, and issue customer invoices and account statements accurately and within established timelines.
• Monitor outstanding customer balances and proactively follow up on overdue accounts to ensure timely collections.
• Allocate incoming customer payments and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate recording of transactions.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, billing issues, and account reconciliation variances.
• Respond to customer queries relating to invoices, payments, and outstanding balances in a professional and timely manner.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts receivable records and customer ledgers.
• Prepare and maintain aged receivables reports and provide regular updates on collection activities.
• Assist with month-end closing activities and other finance-related reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with established financial procedures, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements.
• Work closely with the finance team to maintain efficient accounts receivable processes and ensure continuity during the transition period.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in Accounts Receivable or a similar finance-related role.
• Strong working knowledge of invoicing, payment allocation, collections, and customer account reconciliations.
• Experience handling customer billing queries and following up on outstanding payments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP systems.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions and records.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an Australian-based finance team.
• Willingness to undergo handover and training to understand existing processes and procedures.
