Job Summary
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and training of the Accounting Staff in charge in the areas of Payroll, Taxes and Compliance and General Accounting; the review of the Accounting Staff’s reports, filings and entries; the preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and all other financial reportings, the implementation, review and improvement of the policies and procedures; and the implementation, review and improvement of Finance Information Systems.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting
- Review the bank reconciliation weekly.
- Review closing entries.
- Review trial balance for unusual balances
- Review GL & SL reconciliation
- Review the accounting process and recommend improvements to sustain the daily operational activities.
- Conduct accounting process roll out and training to Accounting Staffs.
- Document and maintain accounting policy and process flow charts.
- Prepare a weekly Mancom report.
- Prepare monthly FS and FSC reports.
- Conducts weekly coaching/meeting with Accounting staff
- Conducts monthly performance appraisal of Accounting staff
- Interviews new recruits for open positions in partnership with HR
- Makes hiring decisions for open positions in partnership with HR
- Conducts progressive disciplinary action activities, when required, to ensure that employees are made aware of their short-comings and are given every chance to succeed prior to termination
- Conducts termination activities in partnership with HR
- Maintains the Accounting Manual.
- Initiates and participates in business process improvement activities, taking responsibility for making and implementing efficiency-enhancing recommendations.
- Makes himself/herself available for staff questions, taking the time to ensure that issues are resolved to the employee’s satisfaction
- Support financial statement audits

General
- Approve cash disbursements by authorizing cheque vouchers
- Maintain enough cash for operations by monitoring bank balances and cash requirements; transferring excess funds to Holdings
- Maintain accounts receivables only for current balances (no overdue accounts)
- Maintain accounts payables are for current balances (no overdue accounts)
- Review and approves payroll summary and employee deductions
- Review and approve government required reports (SSS, PHIC, HDMF, taxes)
- Review Mancom reports
- Review FS Excel and Powerpoint reports
- Reconciles and analyzes balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
- Analyze the FS and identify good and bad points in terms of performance
- Provide steps or actions on how to improve financial performance aligned with accepted Accounting principles
- Support the Business Head by providing the financial impact (revenue, expenses, ROI) of projects/activities that will be undertaken by the company
- Meets accounting financial standards by providing accounting department annual budget information, monitoring expenditures, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions
- Meets accounting operational standards by contributing financial information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements
- Maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field. A CPA or equivalent professional certification is highly desirable.
Experience: End-to-end general commercial accounting and 3 years supervisory experience
