About the role
The Accounting Supervisor manages all daily accounting operations for the Philippine Heart Association, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective internal controls supporting the organization's mission. This position bridges operational finance management with strategic financial leadership, overseeing accounting staff, managing critical financial processes (payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash management), and providing financial analysis and recommendations to organizational leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliations
- Review all journal entries, account reconciliations, trial balances, and account adjustments for accuracy
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and ensure cash records match bank statements with discrepancies promptly resolved
- Prepare monthly financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Prepare Treasurer's Report for submission to the Finance Committee and organizational leadership with analysis of financial performance
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with Philippine labor and tax laws
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and government regulations
- Supervise and manage daily work of accounting staff including Accounting Assistant and Cashier
- Assist organizational leadership in developing annual operating budgets and monitor actual expenses against approved budget
- Support the Executive Director and Board by preparing reports, minutes, and required documentation
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or Bachelor's degree with significant relevant accounting experience supplemented by professional accounting certifications
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience in professional accounting roles
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience in accounting departmentsStrong leadership, project management, analytical, and people management skills
- Advanced knowledge of accounting standards and principles (PSA/GAAP for nonprofits)
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and labor law requirements in the Philippines
- Hands-on experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, preferably NetSuite/Oracle
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Understanding of internal control frameworks and audit procedures
- Integrity, professionalism, and ability to work in fast-paced environments
